The name Car, the Garden was suggested by his friend, Oh Hyuk of Hyukoh. It is a literal translation of his birth name; his last name Cha (차) is a homonym of 'car', while his first name Jung-won (정원) means 'garden'.

The group's name, Jannabi, is an archaic Korean word for monkey and the band was originally composed of neighborhood friends from Bundang who were all born in 1992, the Year of the Monkey in the Chinese zodiac. According to Choi Jung-hoon, the name was suggested by their close friend. They introduce themselves as a "group sound" rather than a band. The term was used to refer to a band in the Korean music scene in the 1960s and 1970s, signifying the group's desire to restore the classics of the band's music.

Jung Seung-hwan (born August 21, 1996) is a South Korean singer signed under Antenna. He is best known as the runner-up contestant in SBS' K-pop Star Season 4. He is best known for his cover performance of Kim Johan's I Want to Fall in Love (사랑에 빠지고 싶다) on K-pop Star 4 and dominated the Melon Charts for weeks.

Originally a duo composed of Kwon and Yoon Cheol-jong, 10cm debuted in 2010. With the release of the single "Americano," the group quickly became one of the most popular indie acts in South Korea, winning the This Year's Discovery Award at the 2010 Mnet Asian Music Awards, followed by Best Pop Song at the 2011 Korean Music Awards. ukjae is a Korean guitarist, producer and singer-songwriter. After graduating from Seoul Institute of the Arts with a degree in Applied Music in 2008, he has worked as a session and concert musician for Park Hyo-shin, Sam Kim, Jung Eun-ji, Taeyeon, and IU.

Jo was born in Seoul, South Korea, on December 5, 1982. He moved to the United States when he was 12 years old and grew up in New Jersey. His musical taste was influenced at an early age by what he would learn from American music media such as MTV and Rolling Stone. He was also heavily influenced by Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill and the first album he ever purchased was Michael Jackson's Dangerous.

A South Korean singer and songwriter, his His first and only album, Because I Love You (Korean: 사랑하기 때문에) was released through Seoul Records in 1987. Yoo died in a car accident months later from the album release at age 25. Even though he died with only one album, Yoo Jae-ha's music has a great legacy in South Korea, and it is credited with exerting tremendous influence in Korean popular music.

Since their debut album Be Mate in the spring of 2009, Mate has been fairly active for a K-indie group in promoting their music and label.They have successfully held two small concerts (the first sold out in four hours, the second in just six minutes) and have made several TV appearances on popular programs such as Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook as well as Music Bank and Music Core. This past summer, Mate starred in the movie Play as themselves, and recounted the story of Mate’s formation and their eventual rise to indie fame.

When this song was made, lots of South Korean people were suffering under the infamous military dictator by PARK JUNG HEE. Despite the fact that KIM MIN GI explained the song was “just a song about morning dew,” lots of people thought the song was a metaphor about the dictatorship and democracy. Hence people, especially college students who were protesting against the government used this song as the symbol of democracy and hope.
