Artist Vaundy
Song 踊り子 [Dancer]

Vaundy got his start by releasing songs independently onto YouTube in 2019. He broke out in December of the same year with his song "Tokyo Flash".

[Verse 1]
Hey, that something that was left behind us
Are now resurfacing piece by piece
Hey, let's put them back together
Before the bubble bursts and we forget it all
(Hey)

[Refrain]
Spinning round' and round', my and that person's future
When it stops somewhere
Let's hope we can start all over again
Spinning round' and round', if we can all act like victims
And march on together from where we left off

[Post-Chorus]
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru

[Verse 2]
I told you, that when I met you
That encounter was left behind in my dreams
Hey, why is it that you like me
When we haven't met up more than once?
(Ah)

[Verse 3]
Stamping down my emotions
When the two of us were alone together
I praise the unforgettable love As we write these words Into the vows for each other, it is like saying "Let's sing out the enduring love"

[Refrain]
Spinning round' and round', my and that person's future
When it stops somewhere
Let's hope we can start all over again
Spinning round' and round', if we can all act like victims
And march on together from where we left off

[Bridge]
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru

[Refrain]
Spinning round' and round', my and that person's future
When it stops somewhere
Let's hope we can start all over again
Spinning round' and round', if we can all act like victims
And march on together from where we left off

[Outro]
As we go with the times
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
I guess we will continue to rely on love to live
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
When we separate, I wonder if what's left
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
Is the song of never-changing love
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
As we go with the times
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
I guess we will continue to rely on love to live
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
When we separate, I wonder if what's left
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
Is the song of never-changing love
(Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah (Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru)
Tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru-ru, tu-ru-ru

Artist スピッツ [Spitz]
Song ロビンソン [Robinson]

The group was originally formed in 1987 by four art school students in Tokyo – it consists of Masamune Kusano (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Tetsuya Miwa (lead guitar), Akihiro Tamura (bass guitar), and Tatsuo Sakiyama (drums). Spitz's musical style is influenced by Donovan, using electric guitar played with arpeggio, and a steady rhythm. The band's name was proposed by Kusano and means "sharp and pointed" in German. Kusano liked the "sp" sound (as in "special" or "crispy").

The coming of new seasons, for some reason brings about these painful days
On the path by the river, on my bike, I chased after you as you ran
A nostalgic record and a grandiose episode,
Upon tired shoulders, you lifted them up, and your frown looked dazzling.

The same words at the same time, as if we said them without thinking
With this ordinary magic, we created it all

Untouchable to all, a kingdom just for two, a place I would never let go of your hand
With this great power, if we could float upon the skies, lu la la, we'd ride the winds of the cosmos

Abandoned on a corner, a cat that refuses to die
It somehow looks like you, as I lift it into my arms, brushing its cheeks
At the same crossing as usual, the round window I looked up through
Was thinly streaked with dirt, as I watched the sliver of a crescent moon

At the edge of a dream lying in wait, you stood with surprised eyes
And now, right here, we're being born again

Untouchable to all, a kingdom just for two, a place where we could spread out eternal song
With this great power, if we could float upon the skies, lu la la, we'd ride the winds of the cosmos

With this great power, if we could float upon the skies, lu la la, we'd ride the winds of the cosmos
Lu la la, we'd ride the winds of the cosmos

Artist JUDY AND MARY
Song Blue Tears

A Japanese rock band formed in 1991 in Japan by bassist Yoshihito Onda and vocalist Yuki, with drummer Kohta Igarashi and guitarist Taiji Fujimoto completing the lineup in 1992. Guitarist Takuya replaced Taiji the following year. The band is known for their innovative punk, rock, and pop meldings of noisy but melodic music in the 1990s. The band dissolved in March 2001.

I dreamed that you were clear, flowing past me
Like wind kicking up distant memories I’d forgotten all about
I start shaking from my toes on up
And the icy moon floating in the night sky
Turns into an endless diorama of white snow……

I was in love but couldn’t say out loud, could I……
I once hurt somebody with all my lies……

My blue tears run down my chest, ruining my hollow eyes
I won’t ever be able to tell you about the new fallen snow that winter

I’m in love but can’t say it out loud, can I……
One day I’m gonna destroy him with all my lies……

I dreamed that you were clear, flowing past me
Like wind kicking up distant memories I’d forgotten all about
Then you turn into an endless diorama of white snow….

The sky splits open…… and light’s shining on me……
But we’ve spent our last night together……
I won’t ever be able to forget the new fallen snow that winter.

Artist パフューム [Perfume]
Song Spinning World

A Japanese pop girl group from Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, consisting of Ayano Omoto ("Nocchi"), Yuka Kashino ("KASHIYUKA") and Ayaka Nishiwaki ("a-chan"). Because Ayaka Nishiwaki ("a-chan"), Yuka Kashino ("KASHIYUKA"), and Yuka Kawashima ("Kawayuka") had the same Japanese kanji character for 香 (ka / kaori, fragrance) in their names, they named the group "Perfume" (kousui (香水) in Japanese). The group was formed with an original post-Shibuya-kei sound and later transitioned toward contemporary electronic dance music that incorporated elements of synthpop, bubblegum pop, dance-pop, techno, and house music. The group is also known for their heavily processed vocals, making clever use of autotune, Harmony Engine, and vocoders.

Spinning girl, spinning world

Dancing spinning girl, in my dream
With a nice captivating scent, a relaxed flight
Dancing spinning world, I'm sure I could fly
Over the city like walking barefoot
Dancing spinning world
Spinning world

This music I'm holding up
Us two in a dream
Shining magic of the city
My heart is wavering

Dancing spinning girl, in my dream
With a nice captivating scent, relaxed flight
Dancing spinning world, I'm sure I could fly
Over the city like walking barefoot
Dancing spinning world, spinning girl
Spinning world, spinning girl

This music I'm holding up
Us two in a dream
Shining magic of the city
My heart is wavering

Dancing spinning girl, spinning girl, in my dream
With a nice captivating scent, a relaxed flight
Dancing spinning world, spinning world, I'm sure I could fly
Over the city like walking barefoot

Artist Wink
Song 愛が止まらない ~Turn it Into Love~[Love Cannot Be Stopped]

A Japanese idol duo in the late 1980s and early-to-mid-1990s composed of Sachiko Suzuki (鈴木早智子) and Shoko Aida (相田翔子). They released their first single on April 27, 1988, and their final release was on March 31, 1996. In 1987, Sachiko Suzuki and Shoko Aida both entered a beauty contest given by the magazine Up to bBoy. Suzuki won 7th place and formed Wink with 9th place winner Aida the next year. Wink had a different style and image than many other J-pop idols of the era who focused on a "cute" style with sugar coated lyrics. The duo had emotionless facial expressions while they sang, and almost never smiled. They also dressed in extravagant lolita fashions, and almost looked doll-like.

The car radio is playing a sad ballad
The line of friendship has been crossed
We fall silent under the shining constellations
Our eyes meet in a sweet trap

What is in my heart just cannot be stopped
I'm entering a drama with you
I can feel myself shaking

I knew from the start that you already had a girlfriend
So why am I being honest about my feelings tonight?
Rational barriers do not work when the heart is already running ahead
With shaking fingers I turn off the light

I just cannot help loving you anymore
You take away this fever of mine
I feel dizzy

I just cannot stop it anymore
What I'm feeling now
I cannot stop it anymore
I'm shaking now

Until the skyline changes to the colour of wine
I want to infect you with these feelings

Just what is in my heart cannot be stopped
I'm entering a drama with you
I can feel myself shaking
I just cannot help loving you anymore
You take away this fever of mine
I feel dizzy

Artist P-MODEL
Song COLORS

A Japanese electronic rock band started in 1979 by members of the defunct progressive rock band Mandrake. The band has experienced many lineup revisions over the years but frontman Susumu Hirasawa was always at the helm of operations. P-Model officially disbanded in 2000. Berserk mangaka Kentaro Miura has found that listening to Hirasawa's songs has helped him regain focus on the themes of his writing multiple times, mangaka/anime director Satoshi Kon wrote that Hirasawa's work was "a source of imagination and creativity for me" over the last 20 years of his life, film director Daihachi Yoshida considers Hirasawa as the creator of "about half of my way of thinking". The five main characters of the K-On! franchise are in a band, share the surnames of late '80s P-Model members and play their respective primary instrument. P-Model references can also be found on the manga The Sorrow of a Perfectly Healthy Girl and Opus; as well the anime Sailor Moon, Perfect Blue, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad and Space Dandy.

Artist SHISHAMO
Song 君の目も鼻も口も顎も眉も寝ても覚めても超素敵!!! [Your eyes, nose, mouth, chin, eyebrows, sleeping or waking up are super nice !!!]

The band formed in early 2010, after the original three members attended the light music club during their first year of high school at Kawasaki City High School for Science and Technology.[1] Asako Miyazaki and Aya Matsumoto had been childhood friends, but Misaki Yoshikawa met the others for the first time at high school. The band named themselves after shishamo, a type of small fish commonly eaten in Japan, however they originally spelled their name in kanji, 柳葉魚.

[Morita Douji]
Song 僕たち の 失敗 [Our Failure]

She was 20 years old when a friend's death inspired her first album. All of her albums keep to tragic or morbid themes. She ended her career as musician in 1983, after giving a final concert in Tokyo. During her career as a musician she was exceptionally secretive, she wore sunglasses and used her curly hair to hide her face. Doji Morita died of heart failure on April 24, 2018 at the age of 65.

Under the mild vernal sun
In your tenderness
I was snuggling
Oh, I was really a coward

Tired of talking with you
I got mute unconsciously
The electric heater instead of stove
Was still fierily heating

At the underground jazz café
Were we, the same two as before
Like a nightmare
Time went by a lot for a fleeting moment

Inside the room in which only I was
I found your favorite
Charlie Parker1
Maybe I was the very one forgotten

When again you saw me, a guy so useless
You must have been extremely shocked
How it's going to that one
Has become a talk of yore

Under the mild vernal sun
In your tenderness
I was snuggling
Oh, I was really a coward

Artist 尾崎 豊 [Yutaka Ozaki]
Song Oh My Little Girl

He debuted in December 1983 while he was still in high school with his hit single "Jūgo no Yoru" (15の夜, "A night at Fifteen"). He gained tremendous support from his younger fanbase with his devastating live performances along with his unique lyrics that expressed dreams and love or the meaning of life. He represented the angst of adolescence, and a lot of the times attacked what he felt was unfair in society or schools. On April 25, 1992, Ozaki was found naked, drunk and unconscious in a Tokyo alleyway. He was taken by ambulance but was soon dismissed from the hospital. He died several hours later. The cause of death was reported as pulmonary edema but many theories have arisen as to the actual cause of death, the most popular being homicide.

The band often incorporates elements of bossa nova, jazz, soul, and funk into their music. They have cited Brazilian music, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Simon & Garfunkel as influences.

好きな季節は短い物で
気づかないうちに溶け出していく
移ろう景色の中でひとり
僕は佇み、君を思う

Someone's feelings rise at dusk when the shower begins to wet the city. A girl without an umbrella wet her black hair. Where to go beyond the bridge.

If the bus runs away to a distant city.

Ah, where should i go tonight? The sinking city. There is nothing, but where should i go tonight?

The end of the season. The tears that spread in the sky.

Sit down at the window seat and think about what i think alone

Ochanomizu

But let's just pour it into your throat through the glass.

It doesn't look like it's going to rain today.

Ah, why don't you come to my room tonight?
Ah, a distant light.

The end of the season. Petals spreading on the sidewalk.

End of season and spreading petals.
End of season and spreading tears.

Artist ザ・ピロウズ [The Pillows]
Song Ride on shooting star

A Japanese alternative rock band formed in 1989. The group has released 22 studio albums, several EPs and compilations, and over 40 singles. Outside Japan, they are best known as the group responsible for the soundtrack to the FLCL anime series. The story as to where the band's name came about is that allegedly Sawao Yamanaka was hanging out at Yoshiaki Manabe's place and an English post-punk compilation record entitled Pillows & Prayers hanging on Manabe's wall inspired him.

Orange slide, the sky that it reflects
Sponge's pride, being dangled

Spider
The apprehension that was caught alive
It's okay even if I don't hide it
I want to have colored dreams

Ride on shooting star
With the voice of my heart, like a shotgun
I kept on singing
Grunge hamster, be grown up
Lobster of revenge, bring it along

Sniper
I'll say, "What can you see
In that fringed world?"
I want to touch it before I aim for it

Ride on shooting star
Searching for you, and in withdrawal syndrome
I told a lie

Ride on shooting star
With thе voice of my heart, like a shotgun
I kеpt on singing

Ooh ooh, ooh ooh
Yeah
Oh, yeah

Artist 戸川純 [Jun Togawa]
Song 好き好き大好き [Like you, Like you, I love you]

After gaining attention a guest singer for the New Wave band Halmens and her acting roles in Japanese dramas and commercials for the Washlet, she began her professional music career in the early 1980s as a singer. In 1984, she released her debut solo album Tamahime-sama under the label of YEN records, containing themes of menstruation, womanhood, and romance with a recurring insect and pupa motif. Notable collaborators over the years include Haruomi Hosono who produced and wrote music for some of her earlier works, and her close friend collaborator Susumu Hirasawa of P-MODEL.

[Verse 1]
Escalating feelings that far exceed common sense
A rose-coloured love that popped up like a sudden mutation
A love so pure you could call it violent
A ‘Je t’aime’ so forceful that it's engraved into the Shōwa Era

[Chorus]
Kiss me as if you're punching me, until my lips bleed
Hold me until my ribs make a cracking sound and break
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Say you love me or I’ll kill you!

[Verse 2]
‘Eros’ takes shape and breaks down the everyday
Romance overlaps with instinct, creating an endless hell
An intuitive recognition of anti-nihilism
Triggers a tendency towards latent, infantile violence

[Chorus]
Kiss me as if you're punching me, until my lips bleed
Hold me until my ribs make a cracking sound and break
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Say you love me or I’ll kill you!

[Outro]
Kiss me as if you're punching me, until my lips bleed
Hold me until my ribs make a cracking sound and break
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!
Like you, Like you, I love you!

How many times must I try before I can meet you?
After how many songs will I be able to create a song?
How many times before I can have a meal?
Today might be the end, I dunno
In the store's display window
The seasons are running by
Spring Summer Fall- Main Street's dyed in this year's color

Reflected in the city, reflected in a dream
The flower petals are scattered by the rain
I'll sing it out if you give me a smile
Saying goodbye- it's just a joke, right?
Even a normal person wouldn't stop there
It seems like I've lost sight of something important
Therefore, let's convey our love
It's only here now

Mom's not making any money yet
Today Son's not going to school
There's still loans left to pay
And I've still yet to see the World
Seems like we're in the second half of eternity
How do you feel? The remaining half is too short!

Reflected in the city, reflected in a dream
The bills are scattered unnecessarily23
I'll whistle and let's dance together!
Saying goodbye- it's just a joke, right?
Fireworks are fading in the distance
It seems like I've lost sight of something important
I want to tell you about everything I've seen

Things I don't know, things I want to do, there are so many of them

Spring Summer Fall, How do you feel?
Let's imagine the color of tomorrow
Shooting stars, Sparkling Snowflakes
Flame reflected in your eyes
Fallen Petals, the forest is shining!
"Shake hands and say goodbye"
Even a normal person wouldn't stop there
It seems like I've lost sight of something important
I'm going to convey my love for you
There's only love, and that's everything

Oh no, There's no time, There just isn't enough time

A "virtual idol", Kyoko Date was developed under the code name "DK-96", and debuted in 1996 under the stage name Kyoko Date DK-96 (伊達杏子 DK-96). "DK" was an abbreviation for "Digital Kids", while "96" indicated that this was the 1996 version. She was developed in collaboration with Visual Science Laboratory, Inc. to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Horipro's founding. Ten Horipro employees and 50 technical staffers worked on Kyoko Date's development, and the initial monetary investment in the project was said to be on the order of several tens of millions of yen (hundreds of thousands of dollars). In 1999, Kyoko debuted in South Korea under the name "DiKi" with an album entitled Between, but found little success anywhere. Two related characters named Kaori Date and Ayano Date would eventually follow in her footsteps, with the former being a model and the latter becoming a VTuber..

Artist Yellow Magic Orchestra [YMO]
Song 君に、胸キュン[My Heart Beats for You]

A Japanese electronic music band formed in Tokyo in 1978 by Haruomi Hosono (bass, keyboards, vocals), Yukihiro Takahashi (drums, lead vocals, occasional keyboards) and Ryuichi Sakamoto (keyboards, vocals). They are credited with playing a key role in the development of several electronic genres, including synthpop, J-pop, electro, and techno, while exploring subversive sociopolitical themes throughout their career. While their contemporaries in Düsseldorf, and later Detroit, were using synthesizer technology to create bleak dystopian music, YMO introduced a more "joyous and liberating" approach to electronic music. According to Sakamoto, they were "tired" of Japanese musicians imitating Western and American music at the time and so they wanted to "make something very original from Japan." The group leader Haruomi Hosono had already been using an Ace Tone rhythm machine since early in his career in the early 1970s. Yellow Magic Orchestra and Ryuichi Sakamoto's Thousand Knives were one of the earliest popular music albums to utilize the Roland MC-8 Microcomposer, which was programmed by Hideki Matsutake during recording sessions. They were also the very first band to utilize the Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer, one of the first and most influential programmable drum machines. On January 11, 2023, Takahashi died at the age of 70, following a case of pneumonia. He had undergone surgery to remove a brain tumor in 2020 but continued to have health troubles that interfered with his musical activities in the intervening years.

[Chorus]
Kimi ni mune kyun
The summer brings the sun
And can the summer tell
What I hide so well

Kimi ni mune kyun
My partner is the sun
I wonder does she know
That I love her so

[Verse 1]
Glimmers on the sea point to the sun
Breaking into stars then back to one
My eyes are burning, my heart is yearning
Yearning for the worship of someone

[Chorus]
Kimi ni mune kyun
So hard to tell someone
So hard to say you care
Here and everywhere

Kimi ni mune kyun
A shadow of the sun
A cloud that runs before
And along the shore

[Verse 2]
Measuring the space between two hearts
Suffering the time we are apart
Oh I'll feel sorrow, again tomorrow
I don't want this feeling to depart

[Chorus]
Kimi ni mune kyun
The summer brings the sun
And can the summer tell
What I hide so well
You might also like

Kimi ni mune kyun
My partner is the sun
I wonder does she know
That I love her so

Song 戦ってしまうよ [We are Fighting]

A Japanese band that formed in 2012 by indigo la End front-man & vocalist Enon Kawatani, who is the sole songwriter for the band.

We hit each other
Now we are in an unintended battle
But I didn't think I would fight you again in this place
In a world that surrounds this world
It is moved by a push
You and I are not meeting
Do you know what I know?

We are fighting, we are fighting
Someday, when you look at the limits, you'll have your checkmate
Follow your imagination and keep fighting
After this fight is over, someday everything will be checkmate

"Attack, so this game never ends"

It's okay to fight fate
"Attack, so this game never ends"

We are fighting, we are fighting
Someday, when you look at the limits, you'll have your checkmate
Follow your imagination and keep fighting
When we're fighting, it'll be checkmate in 3 minutes of fight18

Checkmate
