Things you can do on a summer day:

1) sit under trees, inspect the veins of leaves, inspect the branching of branches

2) hold a seminar for your friends about the shells left behind by cicadas

3) lay in the grass and envision that you are an island, transform your feelings of loneliness into feelings of abundance and commit to your boundaries

4) pickle a variety of vegetables or fruits and sip the cool liquid when your body feels overwhelmed with the heat

5) pick wildflowers and give them to someone you cherish

6) observe an animal friend for an extended period

Community Update

I know I’m all kinds of late and disorganized. I’ve been having trouble with myself lately, feeling waves of depression, hopelessness, frustration—but also occasionally great happiness. In the moments where I feel down I zone out in a space where all tasks feel daunting, and when I am joyful I focus so deeply into it that I can’t bear to focus on anything else. I think this type of disorientation stems from a lack of clarity, stability and rhythm in my day to day. Seeing myself now, and reflecting on a past self when I felt more grounded, I realize this is something so hard to acquire. Of course, I remind myself to be patient. That it is natural and okay to lose order and fail. Laid out before me is the opportunity to rebuild and recenter myself, which that thought and resulting process in itself can be a source of grounding. Having all of you certainly gives me reason to push through the fog and find my roots. I hope I can give any of you the same energy if you’re ever in need.
